Next week, the BBC is doing a series of short (15 mins) radio programmes called "lost, stolen or shredded".
"Series of five programmes in which antiquarian book dealer Rick Gekoski tells the stories that lie behind five very different missing works of art.
Architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh is internationally celebrated as one of the most significant talents of the late-19th and early-20th centuries. His creative genius and contribution to modern architecture and design is unquestioned, with his design for the Glasgow School of Art undoubtedly his masterpiece. But commissions were few and support for his work limited.
Rick examines Mackintosh's life and work and asks why he received so little support during his lifetime."
Doesn't say which particular work by Chuck is the lost, stolen or shredded artwork. It's due to be broadcast on Tuesday 19th at 15.45 GMT, which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern American time. Unlike lots of their programmes, it doesn't appear that the series will be downloadable or on Listen Again, so you'll have to listen live on the computer. Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/ then click on Listen Live. Might be interesting - who knows?

Give her a little slack, Vic; she's trying.

Aw, now I'm all crestfallen, and there was me thinking I was doing so well with Americenglish 101 - why, I even know what 101 means here. (Back in the Old Country it means a torture chamber)
Thanks for your support and understanding, Rebecca - I shall persevere. Y'all.

Oh well. Nothing about stained glass. The "lost" artwork was nothing of the sort, his claim was that England (sic) is littered with gaps where there should be CRM buidings, and according to the presenter, everything Mac ('zat better, Vic?) designed was fabulous so his buildings would natch all have been so too. Passing reference to his "talented designer wife" - who CRM himself said was the better artist. Lots of padding: gibbering about architectural magazines as full-frontal porn (?!), English (sic) people wanting old traditional houses, English (sic) people not commissioning new work. Presented by a man who stated all his audience buy "Country Living" because we all lust after stately English (sic) piles.
It must be obvious that the thing that had me really irritated was that the man appeared not to know the difference between England, Scotland and Great Britain - in American terms, saying that South Carolina, New Jersey and USA are interchangeable.
Hope I didn't get too many people wasting their time on this...
