LONG ISLAND CITY ARTISTS:
OPEN STUDIOS
Sat. May 21 & Sun. May 22, 12-4pm

Check out my art and my new studio and over 100 other artist's studios. Long Island City is hot, becoming a mini Manhattan in Queens. My rent was to be doubled so I had to find a new space and move 10 years of art, glass and a fragile computerized kiln. I did it in 2 months and the new studio is just fine. A triumph of art over money! http://www.licartists.org

LUMIERES DU MONDE: LIGHTS OF THE WORLD, FRANCE

April 23, 2016 - October 28, 2017
Opening Reception: Friday, May, 20 6pm

Each of these small squares represents a 17"x17" painted stained glass artwork commissioned by Peters Studios, on the theme of
In Search Of The Light Of The World. Mine is among them. I spent a week at this German fabrication studio trying them out to see if I wanted to use them to make a possible commission for Kansas City. Of course I usually do my own painting but, interestingly, in the European tradition, one of their craftsman painted the small panel from my design.

Some of the best artists making glass have gathered for The Women's International Stained Glass Workshop for over 25 years. I have been honored to be among them. This June we are exhibiting in France at "The Stained Glass Barn", an exhibit and research center run by the eminent artist Jean Mauret.

SGAA CLASS & TALK
A Brush with Freedom & Light
Class: July 8, 2016 12-4pm
Ellen Talk: July 7, 10:30-11:20am

Artists, like other disciplines, have their organizations and conferences. This summer The Stained Glass Association of America (SGAA) and the American Glass Guild (AGG) are meeting consecutively in the Chicago area; the former tends to include larger businesses, the latter, more individual artists. I'm involved with both. First, giving a talk and a class at the SGAA. I'm delighted that I've become well enough known to be invited to teach. I want to encourage younger artists to reach their full potential. Much glass painting recalls traditional stained glass. I'll be offering the possibility of greater freedom. That is my legacy. 800/438-9581 http://www.stainedglass.org
