I just got through firing Reusche transparent ruby onto sone frosted glass....it came out awful, a really lousy pale brown. Now I've used this paint before with good effect but never of frosted glass....which I'm thinking is likely float glass and that perhaps that's my trouble. Anyone Know?
Well that's good 'cause that's what I figured. I must have got lucky once before and used a piece of frosted glass where the "tin side" was the frosted/blasted side. Oh well...back to the light table, "sigh"
That was my first guess as well. I always check my clear glass for the tin side, with an appropriate black light before I start painting. Even if I don't have plans to enamel or silver stain. That way I can always change my mind later on.
Well I first tried a black light that I got at the local hardware store and that did not work.
Save it for Halloween.......
It has to have a certain wave length I think I bought mine through Reusche or bendhiems.
Good luck, Hallie
I asked the seller on ebay of one of the urine detector lights what the wavelength is. She answered that it was long wave. So I searched for the germicidal light and it specified UVC short wave. That's what the thread on Warmglass said was needed. I think I'll try one.
