Back in the Old Country, one of the most common lead sizes was 3/8" round (H section), but I'm really struggling to find some in USA. One company will only sell me 2,000 lbs (!), while another will only sell me it if I have a store and am willing to sell on. I don't want to run a store, nor am I allowed to. Another had a minimum order of $1000. I want a box - or mebbe 2 - but nothing like the quantities that I have found. 3 other companies have ignored my emails while yet another won't/can't deal with me because I don't have a fax. This last seems to me to be so absurd and quirky that I don't think I want to deal with them anyway!
I really like working with that size and profile, and am loath to give it up. I would be happy with 5/16" - another easily-obtained one in Britain - but can't find that either.
HELP! Please...

Geez Rona, I hope one of the ones you've tried isn't DHD metals.
Google them. They have an online catalog. I'm sure you will find what you need there. Minimum purchase of 50 pounds is the only restriction I know of from them.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago finding Colonial Zinc and I don't have an accent! No one wanted to talk to me about it and I even have a store. Let me know what you find and who.

It sounds like #15 from DHD metals might work. And as David says, their minimum is reasonable.

Rona,
We're willing to share. We have a few cases, how much do you need?
Our cost plus shipping?
Or if you can wait, we'll be driving to Erie, PA on July 1 and can drop it off

Rona, I just checked your site.
Are you in the UK or in Pittsburgh?
If it's the UK, the delivery may take a bit longer than I suggested.

Thanks everyone for the DHD info - looks like they have what I want so I'll give them a ring for future reference, and take up Michael's kind offer in the meantime. Didn't turn them up in my original web crawl, so they aren't any of the unhelpful ones above! I actually had a couple of boxes of 3/8 in UK but I sold them off stupidly cheap to my students cos I thought it was silly to lug them all the way across here...
Michael - that's brilliant, many thanks - will send a private message. Yup, I am in USA (see, I can even say "yup" instead of my usual "aye", so it can't have been the accent, Rebecca!), but the old British website is still up as well as my American one because the server won't allow me to change it from a non-UK phone number. Guess every country has their eccentric businesses.
Thanks again!

So Rona,
Where are you located and how many boxes ( 50 lbs each) do you need?
I'll bring along some pictures of the Stephen Adam window that I have.
Best regards,
Michael
