Was just wondering about the AGG logo window. Did some beveled glass for it several years ago. I can not remember who did design or who did the fabrication. Just wondering.
Hope all are well, I am enjoying the retirement thing.

That's right, I was also thinking Maria's shop did the fab if my memory is right.
What ever happened to it?

It was Designed by my old friend and almost brother Richard Mallard. I lived with Dick and his brother Buddy before I moved into my first appartment in their buliding at 128 Charles St. I was working at Rambuch at the time and Buddy invited me to his place for dinner. He also helped me get the appartment down stairs from theirs. As a matter of fact the whole AGG was Dicks idea, which he started years later, now look!
I miss them both more then I can say, and congradulate Dick for the the great success of HIS IDEA and it's comming to fruition. Thankz old comrade. still miss you. CZ

Well Charlie, as usual you are living in an alternate reality. Yes Dick designed the logo. But crediting him with the AGG is a bit much. There were five founders, Dick was one of them, and all had a lot to do with getting the AGG off the ground and making it a success.

The five founders were Art, Maria Serpentino, Vic Rothman, Barbara Krueger, and Mary Clerkin Higgins. They did all the heavy lifting, meeting for almost two years before the first conference on their own dime, to work out all the logistics necessary to start a new organization. While others, Dick included, liked the idea, those five are the ones that actually made it happen. I'm surprised that is not on the website.

Thanks Mary, I was being generous to Dick, but you are correct.

I must have stepped into something here??
I was just wondering about the logo window. Being a very small fish in this large sea, it was all I was ever involved with as far as the AGG and wondered where it was.
I will go back to retirement now!

No worries Dennis, the effects of lead poisoning spread far and wide.  Yes, the bevels were great.

For the record, Charlie is correct that Dick had the idea for an alternative organization to the SGAA way back when. The truth is that he had never acted on his idea that I know of. I was the host of the SGAA Boston Conference in 2004, and Art Femenella was on their Board of Directors. Art and I both had issues with the SGAA leadership and direction, so we decided to start another organization whose focus was education. We invited a group of about 10 stained glass professionals including Dick to our early gatherings. Dick designed the logo and provided a lot of advice, but decided to step down from the leadership of the group after just a few meetings. After these early gatherings, it became clear that Art Femenella, Mary Clerkin Higgins, Barbara Krueger, Maria Serpentino and Vic Rothman would be the five who were the most invested in the group and it was these five who did all the work. These five are who made the dream of the AGG a reality. Dick continued to serve as an Advisor until his death.

All I dealt with was glass dust, not the lead work.
Well if anyone finds the old logo window, let me know.

Dennis, I have seen the logo window on display at most conferences, so I think that it is handed from one Conference Chair to the next Conference Chair, or whoever is storing *everything*. We have a lot of items that stay together and get put out year after year, the logo window being one of them. Come to a conference for old times sake and you'll see it! It's good to hear from you! I've been wondering what you are up to. Glad retirement is going well.

I agree with Maria......probalby Nancy Gong has it, or perhaps Patrice......but it will show up at the conference with other AGG items......as an aside, this will be the first conference I have missed, due to my agreeing to conduct a church/st. glass tour for the annual Michigan Historic Preservation conference in Petoskey, MI....at the same time....will miss seeing all of you, as I know Nancy has put together a marvelous conference!!!!
