These situations arise where a well meaning board member who has knowledge perhaps of steel fabrication has made an inappropriate suggestion. I recently did a job where the foreman checked out all my suggestions on the web, he discovered I did know what I was talking about and the job proceeded well.
Sometimes out job is to educate our clients, but when a complaint comes out of left field like that it can feel a tad insulting. You've done the right thing and I think on the clients end if they start investigating they'll realize their mistake.
I once applied to a juried situation and got a note back on my leaded window, " patina rubs off" . Uh huh if you rub lead your finger gets black, don't take it personally, but I sympathize with the need to vent on the matter.
