Louis C. Tiffany passed away #onthisday in 1933. A leading tastemaker of the Gilded Age, Tiffany formed artistic firms in Manhattan and Queens where, under his direction, hundreds of artists and artisans created extraordinary leaded-glass windows, lamps, mosaics, glassware, enamels, ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, furniture, and textiles. Although his firms worked in all media, Tiffany is perhaps most celebrated for his contributions in glass. From kaleidoscopic colors to hypnotic patterns and intriguing textures, Tiffany’s innovations in glass revolutionized a centuries-old art form. During his more than fifty-year career, Tiffany earned international critical acclaim and became one of the most renowned artists of his time. Today we honor him and his artistic legacy ❤️
