I was just thinking, wouldn't it be great if for future conferences, if we
could set up a webinar (or simulcast web seminar ) over the agg web site
so that members that are unable to attend the conference in person,
could possibly take part in some of the evening roundtable discussions
from anywhere in the world. I know that the software and hardware exist
to make this possible. A lot of colleges and universities use this type
of software for distance learning classes. So do a lot of companies for
training employees. If members had a high speed connection they could
download the appropriate software from the agg site and then sit in and
watch the roundtable discussions or if they had a mike and camera,
possibly take an active part. What do you think Geoff? I think an Aussie
like your self and Arthur would be really keen for such a program. The
Agg could possibly attract more international speakers this way if they
were otherwise unable to attend.

Just a thought,

Adam Frazee

G’day Adam,

I finally have a weekend off and of course everybody else has gone away to have an exciting time in Rhode Island except for you, me and Roy. Makes you feel like you’re just wallpaper in cyber space. I would love to hear what is being discussed right now and I think you’re suggestion is fantastic. I have no idea what is involved in setting up a webinar or how they work but I am sure that many AGG members who live on the west coast, deep south or outside the USA would be very interested. I might finally get a chance to chat with Roy face to face as I did with you last year and I am sure Arthur could provide a lot of valuable input into discussions.

I think that many distant members would willingly pay the conference registration fee in order to view the presentations over the internet, even if they can’t afford the time or money to travel. This would not only be a valuable service to members but would increase the number of registrations at a conference and help offset the cost of setting up the technology. I guess we will have to wait and see but a great suggestion anyway.

Right now it’s the middle of winter in Oz and we actually had snow a week ago, a very rare occurrence. A couple of days in sunny RI would be well appreciated however Susie and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary today and we are looking forward to a good night out in cold old Melbourne.

Cheers

Geoff

hello all - weighing in on geoff and adam's idea of internet access...

unfortunately i too, was unable to attend the meeting this year in RI, and i'm alot closer than some ... i think the web idea is brilliant -

...to set up a web conference meeting would need some savvy on the aga's part and the purchase and/or rental of equipment and screens  to enable the viewing/filming and interaction of this type of event?   and the internet feed...  I wish i knew more about that than just signing on... but there may be some out there that do.

I do think that many member users ( and maybe others)  would gladly pay some type of user participation fee or the registration fee to join in on this  event.  I would...

I find myself thinking of the event hr to hr as i have the schedule and wishing i were there participating this year,  meeting you folks again, and joining in the wonderful seminars and educational chat that goes on.   Regards to all

You know if Agg had they're conference the same time as the Bsmgp in the u.k., we could link the two, and have a super conference. okay now I'm jumping ahead of myself. I'll stop.
