Gosh, this language is tricky!
British "spelt" = American "spelled".

Hey, but you're practically one of us by now, what with your close and dear friendship with my husband and all!
Had an email pointing out that spelt in America is a grain. SO I looked it up in an English (as in UK) dictionary which said spelt can also be an inferior grain. Love that an impartial dictionary can be so snottily dismissive!
(Oops - do we have snotty here?)
